Hi ladies

So our 5 year reunion finally took place on 080808! Although it felt more like one of our usual makan + gossip sessions than a full-fledged class reunion, it was just heartwarming to see everyone who had bothered to make the time and effort to come down for this very special occasion. More importantly, I think it also showed that though we have grown, we have also stayed together, and that's what really counts=)

Ok, I sound like a speechwriter.

NIE is... boring. Not to mention, far. Travelling 2 hours to Boon Lay, the backside of Singapore, just to attend lectures on why nouns are nouns and verbs are not adverbs, is slowly killing off my brain cells one by one. However the classes are getting harder now, so I welcome the challenge of keeping my distracted brain occupied.

I never thought I'd say this, but I really miss NUS' efficiency and location. (No offense to the NTU grads among us though, Zihui and Shuhui.)

In other news, I've signed up for the Great Eastern marathon in late October and am looking for training partners! I'm also sponsoring two very adorable little boys in Nepal with my cell group through Prison Ministry! And I've started volunteering with a group of children aged 5-11 in my church... the little ones are the cutest~

Oh, and most interestingly, I get to fulfil my dream of learning conversational Italian for free! I got to know this Italian guy last weekend --he was one of my friends' friends and we shared a cab home after bar-hopping from Loof to Blu Jaz Bar to MOS-- and we are doing a language exchange! He will teach me Italian whhile I teach him Mandarin!

I'm also hoping to start salsa classes once my timetable stabilises. But being the major procrastinator that I am... who knows?

Lastly, I'm slowly building up a corporate wardrobe! I'm on the lookout for pieces that are versatile (can take me from day to night), effortless (doesn't require 3 handmaidens and a screwdriver to get into) and polished. I've found that it really helps to limit the wardrobe to just a few colours too, so I've got only four colours in mine: cobalt, turquoise, grey and beige.

A question to the ladies who are already working (I suspect this is a question Hui and Hami might enjoy answering!): what do your wardrobe basics comprise of?

Wow, it's been a long time since I've blogged on Blogspot!

Last Friday, us gals met up for a supposedly whole-JC-class event. One which was set by Hanis 5years ago. Zihui even brought the rectangular piece of handwritten note which Hanis wrote to each and everyone of us in 3302! (Honestly I don't know where mine went!)

On the evening of 08-August-2008 (080808), at 1800hrs... I mean 2000hrs/8pm (yes, we took the liberty of changing our meeting time 2 hours later as everyone was rushing down from work or home.. hee), we met at Changi Airport's T2, beneath the "Meeting Point" triangle. Turns out that only our clique -sans Daidai & Yingling who had something on-- remembered, or managed to spare some time to go. Liwen represented her Vases clique with her presence. Together, we spent much of the evening sharing little tidbits of our lives over dinner at T2's Swensens.

It was really crowded at Swensens, and we kinda concluded that a large part of our population doesn't really give a hoot about the Beijing Olympics. lol~ (The brief repeat telecasts showed that its opening was really spectacular though..!)

A brief run-through of the events of the night...

By the time I took the bus down to T2, it was a little past 8pm. I met Zihui & Rosie who were already there, walking around Cold Storage...

Together, we went to the meeting point,

where we were soon joined by Joan,

and followed by our "ancient beauty" ;)

Smile, ladies!

Hamidah came soon after, and we proceeded to Swensens! However, our two young-at-heart friends were distracted on our way there, and pulled by an enigmatic force of childhood wonderment, they made a detour to a very interesting texture-shading(???) station.

Proud Artists ^0^
(notice their choice of colours for their masterpieces match the colours of their outfits!)

After waiting in line for sometime, we were given a very large and comfy booth to settle in, where we mulled over the menu, ordered our food and took photos amidst small talk~

Jasmine and Liwen arrived just in time for snacks and desserts too!

We took more pictures after our dinner+desserts!

LIB= Ladies in Black!
Settling the 'accounts' ;)

We took our trademark 'headshots' photo at the Meeting Point too!
Much of 'em taken by Zihui's camera :)

Last but not least, we had a ball of a time posing in front of a pillar decorated with the "Celebrate the Singapore Spirit" banner!

Look at our 'chers posing! Groovy~!Hami laughing hard as she does da pose! :D
The one thing which made tickled me so hard was what happened between Joan and I. Because we were all doing the Saturday-Night-Fever pose with our hands pointing in the air, someone said something about "armpit odour". Joan mistakenly heard something else and said, "ah? what armpit holder? like this?", and proceeded to HOLD MY ARMPITS FROM THE BACK OF ME! It was so totally unexpected, I was really stunned for awhile!

Laughing uncontrollably after Joan VIOLATED Gunni!
Gunni's immediate proclamation, "I can hold my armpits myself, thankyouverymuch!"
Victim's statement to witnesses present, "When she held my pits, I was so violated that I felt that they weren't mine!"

Let's do it together!

One more time!
(eh, Rosie, what are your eyes looking at??!)

With that, we ended our little gathering for the night~

It was good to see how everyone's been doing, how much we've changed, yet in a way, remained the same :) To know that as much as we can talk about the 'big issues' in life, of work, of relationships, of future plans, there's still a child-like part of us that keeps us alive, and not take ourselves too seriously sometimes, and to always look on the lighter side of things...

I am glad to have known each and every one of you, and to have journeyed together for the last 7 years of our lives =) God bless you gals!

A shot of everyone present on 080808 ^0^
